Welcome to our new adventure The World Music Report, an online magazine covering the richness of music from all corners of the world.
World Music as a concept/genre is fairly recent and its scope is wide varied. Most of the music categorized as such has been around for centuries, representing ethnic groups and nations.
Music is probably one of the most distinctive features of cultural identity, that’s why we can instantly identify Mariachi music with Mexico; Bhangra music with the Punjab region, shared by Pakistan and India; Flamenco with Spain; Mambo and Cha cha cha with the island of Cuba; Reggae with Jamaica; Plena and Bomba with the island of Puerto Rico.
We hope you enjoy the content of his magazine as much as we do. If we all learn a bit more about all the great music being created on this planet, our purpose will be surely fulfilled.
